Proposals made to improve the National Cycle Network in the Derby area
Connecting NCN672 back into the NCN
With RCN66 being removed from the NCN in 2024, NCN672 is now disconnected from the network. Suggestions for how it could be reconnected are explored here.
This has been suggested to Sustrans during 2024.
In addition linking NCN672 to NCN54 via the new Toucan crossing on Alfreton Road was suggested in 2021. This will require the upgrade of the existing pavement alongside Croft Lane in Breadsall and a solution for safely crossing Croft Lane.
Improving southern part of NCN672
Currently NCN672 runs on road along Old Mansfield Road. There is extensive space on the western side for an off road alternative.
This has been suggested to Sustrans and Derby City Council in 2018 and since including as a suggestion for inclusion in the Tranche 7 of funding from the DfT.
